Living in the air

Few tips on how to travel with low budget airlines.

Traveling is way too easy these days. And if you think it's an expensive hobby you are very mistaken. Visiting, mostly the European cities, can be done on a very low budget. You can go for a weekend getaway, date with your partner or simply travel on your own. First rule is to plan in advance; that way you won't be spending too much. We got a vast variety of low cost airlines available to us.
Next step is to find a cheap hostel, or even better- try couchsurfing (and the point is not just to stay somewhere for free, it can be actually very rewarding too! You meet so many new people, gain both good and bad experiences.)
The pain in the ass are those low budget airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair, Monarch etc. Indeed you can get a very good deal on the tickets but at the same time it can be a fucking hassle. Baggage restrictions, rushed boarding at the last minute, not even water offered on-board. A friend of mine recently flew with Ryanair and had to pay 60euros because his suitcase was just a tiny bit bigger than was allowed. Fortunately I never had any problems but then I do travel like a pikey.

3D awesomeness in space

Quiet, tranquil, endless. That's space.

The film Gravity precisely captures all of the aspects we usually lack in space movies. Once you leave the atmosphere of the Earth everything becomes very, very quiet. And deadly. And unimaginably cold. Not all the directors however take this into account.

That's why I loved the movie. For it has precisely pictured the laws of physics yet done it in the most beautiful way.

Can you sue an android?

It can sometimes be hard to resolve crimes a man commits and to determine who is responsible. Now, imagine an android built by a man. Who is responsible if he/ or she, commits a crime? Can an android actually commit one?

Good deeds don't need a reason

Because I decided to volunteer - for reasons which A) I feel like I don't need to explain and B) do I actually need to have a reason to volunteer for a charity?? - yesterday I had my very first day working in a charity shop. And the experience was indeed priceless. People you meet there; and I'm not talking only about the ones you work with, but the customers too, are just extraordinary.

Paracetamol- a secret killer?

Do we take too many painkillers? Foto: Diana Madej

You wake up in the morning and go to the bathroom. On your way you realize that you got a mild pain in your head. You stop for a second and feel that the pain is getting stronger and is coming from behind your eyes. You reach the bathroom, open a cupboard and take out the strongest painkiller you got. And that solves the problem. Or at least you would think so.

Most of us do this same ritual far more often than we care to admit. But can an excessive use of painkillers become an addiction? Recent surveys shows that while trying to treat a headache we can actually cause it by overdosing analgesics.

The soothing cream on your soul

Sunday jazz night at Seven Stars

Most of my Sundays look very similar. I usually spend the whole weekend working so I really appreciate when at the end of it I can just sit down and relax. And my Sunday relax means going to Seven Stars and listen to the soothing tones of jazz music.

True feminism

Feminism has many different faces. People encounter it even without realizing it. It is there in times we would never think about the word feminism and yet the definition would apply.

The way I see it feminism has always been defined differently by different groups. I think that many misunderstand the true meaning of it, and what is more, many practice feminism incorrectly. To be a feminist doesn't mean to hate men or trying to be better than him, or wanting to get more recognition than they do. No. To be a feminist means to want to be an equal. Equality in every sense, and it doesn't matter if we compare men and women, or African American and Caucasian, or a Muslim and a Jew.

Hot hot hot!

Temperature records, heat warnings on the BBC, tweets where every other word is 'hot', sunburn people walking in the crowded town, and some more people complaining about the weather....
That is what happens if the UK reaches 26 degrees Celsius.

Cardiac events and other related misfortunes

When I first came to this city, I had many dreams. I believed I can conquer the world, and if not the world, this country, and if not this country, at least this city. I had hopes and believed that everything is possible. Then I was up and down, then my life stagnated, and again up and down. Felt lost and lonely at times, and then enjoyed the company of many friends, and clubs, and drinks.
In the end I realized that there is nothing more left for me in the city, that the lucky star is just not shining upon me anymore. I felt very betrayed by my own childish hopes and foolish dreams. And then the light lit in the end of the tunnel. Each day becoming brighter, each day promising a better life.

Hangover without anyone hangover

Hangover part III

I loved the first Hangover. The second one felt a bit like 'let's-do-this-just-for-the-sake-of-it', and the third one was good. It was Hangover after all, so it was as good as it can get. Allan (Zach Galifianakis) again nailed all the funny lines and Bradley Cooper looked hot as always.

What journalists fear

Blank page. Flicking cursor. Empty mind. The same blank page. No ideas... When it will finally hit me?? The fear we, freelance journalists, all have (or most of us, I presume). And then we question ourselves- am I going to actually sell this article? How much is it going to be worth? Is this work even worth doing?

Star Trek: Into Darkness

00:01 on 9th of May was the first screening of the new Star Trek. And it was in the UK. And I went to see it. An amazing experience considering I needed to work the next day, the tickets were overpriced, the movie is in 3D (even though was shot in 2D). So tonight I decided to forget all my responsibilities and feel young and 'cool'. I went to the cinema at midnight (as one of the very first fans to see the new movie!!!). And it felt GREAT!

The other face of India

A beautiful and so diverse country of India is a big hit among adventure seeking travellers and free minded backpackers. The journey into the land of peace or a spiritual haven as I like to call it, could, however, turn into a nightmare.

Teenage kicks right through tonight!
